Statement from Smart on Crime Spokesman Russell Coleman on the formation of Kentucky’s Criminal Justice Policy Assessment Council
“Governor Matt Bevin announced the formation of the Criminal Justice Policy Assessment Council (CJPAC), which seeks to research and assess proven, innovative criminal justice reforms for implementation in Kentucky.
Kentucky Smart on Crime applauds the Governor’s bold leadership on this critical issue. I look forward to serving on CJPAC as a representative of Kentucky Smart on Crime to advance policy initiatives that enhance public safety and save scarce taxpayer dollars.
Kentucky Smart on Crime is dedicated to working with law enforcement and all other key stakeholders to find common ground on modernizing our criminal justice system. The CJPAC will provide the critical policy analysis and data needed to move meaningful criminal justice reform forward in the commonwealth.”
Gov. Bevin said the bipartisan, Kentucky-led council will bring together people from across the Commonwealth with a wide range of expertise to look at the many complex issues that present challenges to the criminal justice system.
